The Course

The day will comprise of an assessment and presentation and will equip you with the skills, knowledge and training materials necessary to provide site specific ILAM Foundation Swimming & Spa Pool Plant Operators courses in-house for your staff

How do I become an ISSPC Foundation Tutor?

Managers, Supervisors or other in-house trainers that have the technical knowledge (CV must be submitted to ILAM) and hold a current National Swimming & Spa Pool Operators Certificate can be trained and assessed as an ISSPC Foundation Tutor. Once trained on this course you can register your facility and train your staff at a time most convenient to you.

Cost

€250 - once off payment-   To register your Facility (which includes training course, copy of the manual, Power Point presentation and other documents for delivery of  the course.  A further €25 per candidate to cover manual, certificate and necessary documentation

Those holding ISRM PPO Certificates or NSSPC Certificates which are due for renewal or have expired within the last year can simply revalidate their certs or convert to NSSPC cert by attending the 1 day Recalidation / Conversion.  Projects and Assignments are given to candidates on the day of course.  They are allowed 6 weeks to complete and return the course work to ILAM.  On successful completion each canditates qualification is valid for five years

The ILAM Swimming and Spa Pool Certificate Foundation is a one-day course;  Candidates will not be certified to take water tests after this course however it is a good base for going on to do the 4 day course which will then certify them to take water tests. 

The ILAM Swimming and Spa Pool Certificate (NSSPC) is a four-day course; the first three days will be delivered in a block followed approximately a month later by a one-day assessment session. Candidates will be required to complete an assignment that has been agreed with their tutor beforehand. Production of the assignment is a pre-requisite of attending the fourth day of the programme.

Candidates also have to complete a learner log by the end of the programme. This forms part of the assessment and is completed on the fourth day. A formal closed book examination is also completed on the final day.

Any swimming pool in Ireland open to the public or members, has to be managed in accordance with the new Health and Safety Acts for the Republic and Northern Ireland. While there is no specific mandatory legislation there is a duty of care under the Health & Safety Acts to ensure the quality of swimming and spa pool water is managed at safe levels.
